YOU AND YOUR JEANS

YOU AND YOUR JEANS

"Jeans represents the democracy in fashion"

This above quote about jeans is bang on the target. 'Jeans'  were named after Genoese sailors from Italy because they wore clothes made of a blue fabric of cotton, and linen and wool blend. The word 'denim' came from the name of a French material that is found in a town called De Nimes in France.

So, what is its DNA, initially, jeans were not made from cotton. In the 18th century, as trade and cotton plantations boomed, cotton became the apt choice. Worker wore jeans because the material was durable. It was usually dyed with Indigo, which was taken from plantation in the America and India. Jeans are popular among all age groups. During the second World War jeans (called 'overalls' at that time) got introduced to the world by American soldiers, who usually wore them when they were off-duty. Hollywood actor James Dean popularised it so much that it became the symbol of the youth rebellion during the 1950s in America. Teens who wore jeans were banned from formal place like theatres, schools or restaurants.
May 20 is considered to be the birthday of blue jeans. Jeans are the world's most sought after casual wear. One of the most popular apparel on the planet.

Distressed Jeans
Distressed denim emerged from the cultural punk movement in the 1970s. Early punks tore apart consumer goods as an expression of their anger towards society.
The trend became popular again in the 1990s with the emergence of grunge fashion. The grunge youth wore loose-fitting ripped jeans.

Mom Jeans
Mom jeans is a slang term for high-waisted women's jeans that were originally fashionable in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In the late 1990s and 2000s they were mainly worn by middle-aged American women and considered unhip by trendy younger women. Mom jeans then came back in style amongst hipsters and fashionably aware young women in the 2010s.
This style usually consists of a high waist rising above the belly button, making the buttocks appear disproportionately longer, larger, and flatter.Mom jeans have excess space in the zipper/crotch and leg areas. The jeans are usually in a solid, light-blue color, with no form of stone washing or fading
